Peking Opera (Beijing opera) is China's national opera, with 200-year history. The opera combines music, vocal performance, mime, dance and acrobatics, the commonly used percussion instruments include castanets, drums, bells and cymbals. The form was extremely popular in the Qing Dynasty court, and then was regarded as one of the cultural treasures of China.
