Water Cube

The National Aquatics Stadium is located to the west of Bird's Nest, nicknamed Water Cube, which is the stadium for swimming, diving and synchronized swimming during Beijing Olympic Games in August 2008. The design inspiration is quoted from the soap bubbles and the entire shape look like a jumbo blue cube composing of over 3000 pieces of ETFE membranes which is kind of advanced and light material. There are 17,000 permanent and temporary seats inside this stadium. The cube appearance symbolizes a Chinese old saying "the earth is square" which matches the Bird's Nest next to it referring "the heaven is round".

Michael Phelps grabbed eight swimming gold metals in this aquatics center during the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, and then he became the most famous swimmer all over the world. The two swimming pools will be open to the public after renovation work and all of us can leave some amazing experience by that time. I hope you can have fun there. Water Cube
